According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission , 2.5 million children are injured or killed each year by dangers right in their own homes. Young children are at increased risk from accidental injuries in the home because this is where they spend most of their time. As many as 90% of unintentional injuries to children in the home can be prevented by childproofing correctly (Source: Safe Kids Worldwide). If products are installed incorrectly, are of poor quality or wear out, the risk of injury remains despite the best of intentions.
When should I childproof my home?
You should begin to think about the child safety before you bring your baby home from the hospital. Child safety must be the first priority of any parent and needs to always be thought through when making every decision related to your child especially when purchasing your baby’s furniture, bedding, clothing, toys, food, and car safety seat. The crib should be safety proofed and you should take an infant CPR class before the baby is home. Childproofing ideally should be done as early as possible to ensure that your child’s home environment is as safe as possible from day one.
Why should I hire Baby Boundaries?
While parents can identify many of the obvious hazards, a trained professional is able to identify the less obvious, but no less dangerous ones. If Baby Boundaries can identify one serious hazard that you missed and possibly prevent even one accident, our services are well worth it.

Will I save time and money by trying to child proof my house by myself?
Childproofing is neither the place to save time or money nor it is a fun family project. When it comes to your child safety, you should let a child safety expert do the job properly for you.
If your time is valuable, hiring a professional childproofer will likely save you money as well. To properly childproof a home, Baby Boundaries spends an average of 1-2 eight hour days and a very large home often takes 3 days – and that is with most of the products already in stock, having all the right tools and with the knowledge and experience of having installed the products many times before. If it takes a Baby Boundaries professional that much time, it will inevitably take you much longer, anywhere from 3-6 days. You will spend those 3-6 days driving to different retail stores, searching and ordering online while paying retail plus shipping charges, figuring out how to install the products, buying tools you likely do not have to install all the products and then actually installing all the products.
Why hire a child proofer instead of a handyman?
Unlike a professional childproofer, handymen don't specialize in child safety and don't install child safety products on a regular basis. As a result, you will personally be required to spend a significant amount of time researching the products you need, finding and purchasing them either by driving to different retail stores, ordering online or a combination of the two (often times paying retail and shipping charges) and storing them until your handyman can install them. If there is a problem with any of the products, you will be responsible for returning the products, replacing them and then pay your handyman to come back out and install the replacement. Because most handymen do not install child safety products on a day in and day out basis, in order to properly install any particular child safety product, they will have to read the directions and figure out how to install it. At hourly labor rates anywhere from $60-$100 per hour, you run a real risk of paying for your handyman's inefficiency. Handymen are not aware of the different customized gate mounting system professional childproofers use that provide the homeowner with the best options available for placement of child safety gates throughout the home.
How long do you guarantee your products and services?
Baby Boundaries guarantees to repair or replace (at no additional charge) any malfunctioning product we provide for a period of sixty (60) days from the date of installation or purchase (except in cases of damage due to acts of nature or misuse of the product). If adjustments or repairs are needed after the warranty period, a minimum fee of $50.00 will be billed for labor and materials. Labor will be billed at $50.00 per labor hour and materials at our retail prices.
Are the products you use different from what I can buy at a local retail store?
Baby Boundaries uses the most dependable and practical child safety products. We constantly educate ourselves to new child safety products coming to market and recommend them if they are an improvement on our current product offering. Some of the child safety products found at retail locations are not always the best quality available. Inferior products not only can waste time and money, but can lead to a false sense of security regarding your child’s safety. Even if you were able to know which are the best products, they can frequently be difficult to find and never all at one store, except from specialty retailers. In addition, some safety products are complicated to install and require special tools and knowledge of building materials.
Can I buy child safety products from Baby Boundaries?
Yes. If you prefer to install safety products yourself, please purchase your
safety products from our partner by clicking on the following link:
Safe Beginnings. If you would like help installing the products after your purchase, please contact us.
Will you install products I already have?
It depends. We will install products purchased through our partner. Generally, we do not install any safety products you have that are not products we regularly use, due to quality and reliability issues. Additionally, we cannot guarantee products that are not purchased from Baby Boundaries. If you have a few items that we approve of and we are installing our or our partner's products we will try to accommodate you.
How soon can you get my home childproofed?
Generally the process takes 1-2 weeks. This will depend on your availability as well as our current client load. Because of the variability in our client load during the year, we recommend you contact us 4-6 weeks before you would like to have the process completed. When you call us to set up a safety evaluation, we can usually schedule the visit within 5-7 days. After you review the product recommendations and approve the items you would like installed, we can usually set an installation date within a week. If custom work or special orders are needed it will take longer – usually 3-4 weeks from the order date.
